Here is an 1870 Nickel Three Cent Piece. This is one of the early years of this unusual set of coins. We grade this coin Fine. Some of these coins were of higher mintages, with others of low mintages, since this coin was only minted as needed. However, many of these were recalled, and melted down to mint the much more popular nickel 5 cent coin – and the surviving mintages are lower than expected. The LIBERTY is clear, with some slight weakness from wear, and moderate wear is noted on hair details. Some spots in lower design elements. Denticles evident around both obverse and reverse rims. All vertical lines found in III on reverse, with some showing weakness from wear. Moderate wear on wreath details. An excellent type coin, or that one coin you need to complete this unusual set of coins, with dates from 1865 to 1889. Thanks for looking. Enjoy! WDED-51
