Antique Illinois Councilor Macys Private Label 17 Jewel Pocket Watch Runs C3860

1 in stock

Here is an antique Illinois "The Councilor" private label pocket watch. It is a 17 jewel, grade 425. This watch series was a private label made by the Illinois Watch Company, (Springfield, Illinois) branded for R.H. Macy & Co, Inc. The movement is a 12 size, 45.1mm case measurement (1.7 inches) and 11.8mm thick. As this is a stem set watch, to set the watch time, you must gently pull the stem out. The medal dial shows no wear or issues. All numbers are crisp and present. The movement serial number is 4383259, dating it to 1923, making this watch approx. 101 years old. The production figures show that they made 1000 of these in that run. This watch has a nearly perfect crystal and does not show much sign of wear other than light handling. I would suggest the crystal be re-mounted as it is loose. At the stem and bow, there is not much of any wear if it was worn on a chain/fob. The case is marked on the inside of the back of the dust cover Keystone Watch Case 14K Gold Filled. It has no significant wear. It is engraved "BIO" on the outside reverse. There are a couple repair/service marks in the case. The mechanical (winding type) (112) year old watch winds, runs and keeps accurate time over the 48 hours I timed it. … We sell these items as they are and as you see them with some dirt, minor marks or minor damage from use (as is). Please look over the pics.

NOTE: Old watches like these do need to be carried and wound to keep proper time and servicing is always recommended. This, among several we are listing here, came out of a serious collector's estate and he kept them cataloged, serviced and stored properly. NOTE: there is an old (Nice Condition) Crisp Uncirculated 1935E dated Us 1$ silver certificate dollar bill note included with this lot
