Here is a 114-year-old, fine quality, 14K rose gold filled South Bend fancy dial pocket watch. It was made in South Bend, Indiana in 1910. It still winds runs & keeps accurate time over the 48 hours I timed it. This is the 281 model and its serial number is 577028. This watch is a 16 size 1/4 plate with a 15-ruby jewel, lever set movement. To set the time, unscrew the front cover and pull out the tiny lever near 2 o'clock. Then, turn the ribbed cap on the top of the watch to set the correct time. You will then push the lever back in to complete the process. This is what "lever set" means. The watch case appears to be in good restorable condition and can be used as is. The dial has cracks between 2 & 3 and at 11 & 1. Also, there is some brassing around the front cover, back and edges where the gold fill has worn off. The back cover is slightly cross-threaded, but does stay on securely. All of these things are quite minor and can be fixed, however, they do not affect the function of the watch. There is a nice rose gold-filled chain attached to the watch.
We sell watches AS IS: dirt, minor marks, scratches and/or minor damage. We have described the watch to the best of our abilities. We are NOT watch experts. Please look closely at the pictures.
